Houseboat summary

Staying at this houseboat may best be described as a lesson in taking a break from everything that is on your mind. Step aboard and forget your day-to-day humdrum while enjoying everything that this great place has to offer. Not in the least because of the unique location: next to city the center just off the beaten path but with lots of great restaurants, museums and bars around the corner - or even closer.

Houseboat description

Rough steel from the outside, inside you will enjoy all the luxury you want.

You're invited to stay at this unique floating bed and breakfast, hosted in a great way by Sietske. Feel free to have (self served) breakfast on your private sunny deck terrace where you also can have a smoke and a drink. Uber cool is probably the best way to describe the atmosphere that has been established here by both the host and the many great people who have stayed here.

Two cabins, one big deluxe cabin and one smaller cabin.
Both have private entrances, comfortable big double bed's, and en suite bathroom's with shower, towels, sheets, floor heating and kitchenette.
Coming with two guests you will stay automatically in the deluxe cabin, coming with three or four guests you will also stay in the smaller cabin. And all together you have a lot of space and all the privacy you want.

The houseboat is brand new built by the Sietske, stylish and very comfy decorated.

Your booking includes bed linen, towels, coffee and tea making facilities,  WiFi and a city map.

On your arrival Sietske will draw on a map lots of tips and nice places for you to go to. You special wishes? Do let her know, she will fill you in on the secrets of Amsterdam.

The garden is a great plus, and a fantastic place to enjoy your breakfast. And not to forget to have a drink or - yes, it's this kind of neighborhood - make a campfire. Not a bad place to end a great day in the buzzing city center. And here is a secret joke: greet all the people passing by as if you have lived here for years. You will never have felt more at home abroad before.

The street where this floating home is located is green and has a very village like atmosphere. The people living in this houseboat community really know and help each other whenever needed. The typical thing about this area is that is actually quite close to city center, yet you won't find masses of tourists passing by. It is quite a well kept secret so to speak.

While public transport is just two minutes walking away, you will find many great attractions within walking distance. Such as the great bar/restaurant Hannekes Boom, Science Museum Nemo, the red light district and the library with it's great views and food on the top floor.

Over all we promise a one of a kind houseboat experience - warmly welcome you aboard!

Houseboat owner

Sietske

Dear traveler,

Talking about my self is a bit strange but what I can do, is tell you that I am a very cheerful person and basically very interested in other people and every-day things - often so much more interesting than you think at first sight.

At this time I am converting my new cargo ship into a houseboat where you can live in. It is a amazing crazy project, a dream come true. You are more then welcome to have a look at it when staying with me at the houseboat.

My way of life is like 'live and let live' and when we meet on board I love to have a chat together.

You are most welcome and I am already looking forward to meet you!

Kindest regards,
Sietske

    Great location, amazing host,

The houseboat was set back around 1.5km from Amsterdam Centraal Station so be prepared to walk but once we arrived the boat was in a lovely yet quiet location. The owner Sietske who lives on the boat also is an amazing woman who made our stay exceptionally comfortable. She provided us with lots of knowledge of the area including local tips and tricks. And also important to us: she gave us all the privacy we needed. The small cat comes and goes if she pleases, a lovely little animal. One of the best places I have stayed - highly recommend it!

    Clean and comfortable houseboat

The host Sietske is very kind and helpful, and the houseboat is clean and comfortable. It is a very cozy place and I just loved to sleep here, softly rocking on the canal where this houseboat is located.

    Lovely Houseboat in Amsterdam

The houseboat Tante Piet is a very comfortable place to stay in Amsterdam. With 15 minutes to the center per foot, the location is very good. Despite the central location, it is still very quiet, green and you even have a little place outside on the dock to sit, bbq,...

The boat was quite tidy, but a few spots were not thoroughly enough cleaned.

There is also the possibility to take a little trip in a small motor boat for 55€ (which is, in my opinion, a very good price for it) through the canals of Amsterdam. Sadly we couldn't start the engine:(

Sietske is a very nice and courteous host. She told us many places to go in Amsterdam and even had a welcome present for us;)

We really enjoyed our stay at The Laid Back Lady and I would recommend it to everyone who wants to go to Amsterdam and be in a little different "hotel"!
